Nutrition Check-Up Event at Acushnet Senior Center

Coastline will be hosting five free check-up events in May, including this one at noon on May 29 at the Acushnet Senior Center. Learn more about malnutrition and how to reduce your risk. Walk-ins are welcome.

What is Malnutrition?

Malnutrition is an imbalance between the nutrients your body needs to function and the nutrients it gets. It can mean undernutrition or overnutrition. One out of 2 older adults are at risk for malnutrition.

Why it Matters

Being malnourished can contribute to:

  • Weakened immune system;
  • Poor wound healing;
  • Increased risk of hospitalization;
  • Vitamin deficiencies;
  • Reduced GI function; and/or,
  • Increased risk of death.

The first event will be held at 11a.m., May 15th at the Rochester Senior Center.

Additional events will be held:

  • Rochester Senior Center – May 15th @ 11am
  • Fairhaven Senior Center – May 20th @ 12pm
  • Tripp Towers, New Bedford – May 21st @ 12:30pm
  • Dartmouth Senior Center – May 30th @ 1pm
