February 2023
For February, we dive deep into Social Day programs in the South Coast looking at which ones are open, which are closed, and which are still hoping to re-open or to expand their calendars. COVID-19 saw half of the local programs close in or around 2020, but Council on Aging directors, determined to help older adults get the socialization they need, are working hard to continue to offer the important program. Senior Scope looks specifically at the Fairhaven COA which is reopening now to better understand the need and obstacles to sustainable programs.
Also in this edition: A statewide behavioral health roadmap is transforming the role of Child & Family Services in New Bedford and beyond, and Dr. Mike Rocha reflects on the benefits of the Walk with a Doc program.
