June 2022 marks the 25th anniversary of the Senior Medicare Patrol at www.SMPresource.org. To commemorate this event, the SMP created this national week, beginning June 5, focused on Medicare fraud prevention.

Everyone can help prevent Medicare fraud, especially by reading their Medicare Summary Notice (MSN) or Explanation of Benefits (EOB) regularly. See Senior Medicare Patrol’s video on how to read your statement and additional information here: https://tinyurl.com/2tzydbmu.

Coastline can also help. SMP representative Maria Pimentel is here every second Monday from 2-4 p.m. to answer questions about Medicare billing, errors, and more  in English or Portuguese.

She can provide one-on-one counseling and guidance for older adults as well as respond to questions about healthcare errors, fraud, and abuse.  She can also help identify deceptive marketing tactics, scams, abuse, and fraud and make appropriate referrals.

The Senior Medicare Patrol program empowers seniors through increased awareness and understanding of healthcare programs. The program works to prevent the billions of federal dollars lost annually to healthcare fraud, error, and abuse. Call Coastline at 508-999-6400 to schedule an in-person or phone appointment with Maria.
